Are you able to call people who use other VoIP services?
Yes, you are able to call any other telephone number whether it be VoIP, an Internet phone or any traditional phone service.
What happens if my Internet connection goes down?
If your Internet connection for some reason does go down, then you will be unable to make or receive calls until your Internet connection comes back online.
Why isn't my phone number working?
There could be a number of different reasons such as:
- If there seems to be a problem with your inbound calls you may have not configured your phone correctly
- If you are trying to divert you number to another number it could be you haven't got the number down correctly
- Loss of Internet connection.
How do I reboot my phone?
In order to reboot your phone all you need to do is turn off your phone by the power supply switch, leave it for a few seconds and then turn it back on again.
When someone calls my phone doesn't ring?
This could just be that the volume of the phone has been turned off or down, simply just change the volume to how loud you would like it to be.
Can I use the computer whilst I'm making a telephone call?
Yes, you can use your computer freely when making or on a telephone call.
What is the call quality like?
The quality is the same as you would receive through a landline.
Do you need a headset to be able to talk?
No, just your normal digital phone handset will be fine.
What's the difference between VoIP and a traditional phone system?
The only difference is that with VoIP you telephone works via the Internet connection instead of the conventional telephone network.
Are the VoIP calls cheaper then calls from a traditional telephone network?
In most circumstances yes, this is because the calls rates are lower and calls to other VoIP users are free. Using VoIP also reduces your line rental as it uses your Internet connection.
How reliable is VoIP?
VoIP is as reliable as your Internet connection, most of the reliability issues of VoIP are down to your Internet provider.
How secure is VoIP?
VoIP is just as secure as a traditional telephone system, but in some cases it can be even more secure then those calls placed over traditional phone lines.
What is an IP phone?
IP phones are available as either hardware or software, software phone are also known as a soft-phones and they have integrated VoIP capability.
What are the advantages that come with a VoIP phone?
A VoIP phone will have the same basic features as a traditional phone but also has some advantages over the traditional phones such as speed dial, call waiting, caller ID, call barring, call transfer and distinctive ring tones.
What type of Internet connection is needed?
Ideally to receive the true benefits of VoIP a broadband connection is strongly recommended.
Can I block caller ID?
There are two ways in which you can do this. You can dial *141 before making the call, or you can change the settings that you have set up in order to not show caller ID, this can be used for either internal or external calls.
